Although a range of services has been developed, many parents, especially parents of low income families in the community still find that their need for child care services has not been met. The difficulties in finding child care places have subsequently affected their (especially for mothers in low income families) opportunities to seek gainful employment to improve the household income and well being. This study on day care services for children aged 0-12 is to address the aforesaid issues on children’s development, women’s development, and specific situation of low income families in Hong Kong.
